Phase 2 of operation fire truck birthday party is complete!
You can find phase 1 here.
The birthday party invitations are finished
and ready to be addressed!
Let me show you what I did:
Every homemade card needs to start with the envelope you're going to be using. You have to know sizing!
I found these cute little envelopes at Hobby Lobby. I needed two packs since I'm making 16 invites (don't forget to make one for yourself as a keepsake!).
I knew I wanted to matte my invites so I chose two colors of cardstock to use. I trimmed them down to size using the info on my envelope container. The red cardstock is slightly smaller than the black.
I designed what I wanted my invitations to say on my computer and printed them out on the precut red cardstock.
I found the cute little fire hydrant clip art online. Score! And the "little fireman" is in the same font as the shirt the birthday boy will be wearing for the party.
I used this handy dandy corner punch on all 4 corners of the black cardstock.
I was then able to slide the red cardstock into the new slots.
Not only are the little slots cute in the corners, but it also mean I don't have to waste any adhesive trying to stick the two pieces of cardstock together. The slots are doing that job for me!
But its missing a little something,
don't you think?
Time to use my fire trucks again!
I used the print and cut feature of the Silhouette to cut these bad boys out. Definitely beats going at them with the X-acto knife!
If anyone is interesting in my doing a tutorial on how to use the print and cut feature of the Silhouette for your own images (not Silhouette library images), just let me know! It took me a bit of time and going to various places for info before I finally figured it out!
I used a little bit of Beacon 3-in-1 to adhere all of the fire trucks to the invitations.
TA-DA!
I had all 16 of these bad boys whipped up in no time.
But then I decided the envelopes needed a little somthin' somthin'...
So I took some cute little birthday candle stamps that I got for free at a scrapbook convention and stamped them in the bottom right corner of all of the envelopes.
2 candles for my soon to be 2 year old!
Oh yeah! That's better!
And, best of all, they are toddler approved!
The little guy loves them.
Now to stamp and address them... :)

These are so cute!! I want to come to this rockin' party!!
