Hello, Scrap Shoppe Readers!
I’m Jocelyn from Inside BruCrew Life.
I love to scrapbook, make homemade cards, and I bake a lot. I am super excited to be sharing a craft idea with you for the Homemade Christmas week. Thank you Michele for inviting me to be a part of this:-)
Today I am showing you how to make a beaded picture hanger. I saw something similar in a local store here, but decided it would be simple enough to figure out my own variation. My daughter has one hanging from her curtain rod, and she loves to switch out her friend’s pictures.
Let’s get started by gathering/buying your supplies.
26 gauge wire
10 alligator clips with a hole in the top (I found mine at Hobby Lobby in the jewelry aisle)
1 key ring
fabric flowers of your choice
Cut 5 pieces of wire measuring 7 inches each. Cut 1 piece measuring 4 inches.
For the 4 inch piece of wire, you will start by twisting the wire on the key ring, add your beads until it is 2 inches long, and then add your alligator clip.
Start by putting the end of one of a 7 inch piece through the hole in the end of the alligator clip. Twist to tighten it to the clip. Add beads until it measures 3 1/2 inches long. Put the end of the wire through another alligator clip, pull tight, and twist right above the bead. Do this 3 more times.
For the last piece of 7 inch wire, you will only use 1 alligator clip, beads, and then a fun pendant at the end.
Because I thought the clips looked a little plain, I decided to embellish them with some of the fabric flowers that I make. You could use any flower of your choice here. I don’t recommend using anything bigger than a 2 inch flower though, because it will cover some of your picture when it is hanging. I just hot glued them to the clip, but you could use a fabric/metal glue too, if you like.
Thank you so much for letting me share my craft with you. I would love for you to stop by my blog and say hello.
