Acrylic Chevron Necklace

Acrylic+Chevron+Necklace+1
I’m finally ready to share my final project using the DecoArt glass paint!
This paint has been so fun to play with.
I can really see myself using it on EVERYTHING!
But let me show you how I made my
Acrylic Chevron Necklace

Acrylic+Chevron+Necklace+2
I started off with some acrylic rectangles.
You can find these in the scrapbooking section of your local craft store.

In order to turn my acrylic pieces into pendants, I needed to drill holes in them.
I drilled a small hole, just big enough to fit a jump ring through, in two of the corners of each acrylic piece.

I took some patterned scrapbook paper and trimmed the height to match that of the acrylic.
I used glitter Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the underside of the acrylic.

Cut and trim the paper down to size around the 3 acrylic pieces.
Gently file the edges of the paper to make it flush with the acrylic.
Using a paper piercer (or something similar) punch through the paper into the holes you drilled earlier in the acrylic pieces.

Now we’re ready to think about painting!
I taped off the white chevrons in every other row with painter’s tape.

Using a sponge dauber, I applied Crystal Gloss Enamel Glitter in white.

As per the directions, I removed the tape before the paint had a chance to dry.
The lines came out nice and crisp!

Once the white was dry, I went back and taped off all of the black chevrons in every other row and painted them with the Crystal Gloss Enamel Glitter in black.
I’m loving all of the glitter!
And the paint on top of the acrylic is giving the necklace a fun 3D effect.

Once all of the paint is dry, its time to assemble the necklace!
Add large jump rings to each hole in the acrylic pieces.
Using smaller jump rings, join the 3 rectangles together.

To finish off the necklace, add a small jump ring to the outside rectangle and attach your chain (see arrow).
Measure how long you want your necklace to be, then trim down the chain accordingly and add a lobster clasp to one end, and a large jump ring to the other.

I think the necklace turned out fun and flirty!
What do you think?

Pretty simple to make despite the number of steps, and the possibilities are endless as far as patterns
since you can select any scrapbook paper to use as a backdrop!
