Living Room Makeover

Changes, they are a-comin’!
For my living room that is.
I’ve never been too big on major home decor. Mostly because I don’t think I’m very good at it.
A couple of years ago we made over our guest bedroom into a toddler room so my oldest could move out of the nursery and let his new brother move in.
I found out it was kind of fun!
Then came the SNAP! conference last April. Some of the home bloggers put the bug in me to paint and decorate. Their words gave me courage to start to plan and explore the things I could possibly do to my home.
Finding the time to do all of these things has been a challenge.
But it has given me a chance to hone my plans, and I’m happy to say, they are FINALLY underway!

Paint
If you follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook you saw my photo over the weekend of a handful of gray paint chips.
We bought samples of four different shades.
We’ll get them on the wall soon, then I hope to stare them down until one of them truly speaks to me!
Right now I’m cheering on “Anonymous.”
(note: that is NOT my living room in the photo above)
floor+options
Besides paint, we’ve also been looking at flooring.
Right now we have a carpeted living room, but that will soon be no more.
I am SO excited! I already have a new rug waiting to be laid out.
We’re going with a wood laminate and, confession, we already have it!
It could even be all laid down as early as this week!
*Squeal!* right??
But before I tell you which flooring we chose, I would love to hear your thoughts on the many, many, MANY shades of gray and the flooring stains!

As I make progress with the room, I will be sharing updates here on the blog.
Its going to take a while to see everything to fruition!
But we should at the very least have some monthly updates. 🙂

We are planning to paint our living room and have been looking at that specific color with anonymous but I didn't know if the white trim would pop enough... love that you found a way to figure that out! Love your flooring choices too! Can't wait to see which one you chose :) Keep us updated with pics and stuff! Kathi

I'm with you on the anonymous - it seems the least blue and the most grey. The lighter floor in the picture does give a warmth to the room - I wonder if a yellowy stain might not work well - to keep it inviting and warm? Arcadia Lake Hickory is my favourite of the ones you've chosen :)
