Hanging Pocket Valentine

This post is sponsored by American Crafts but, as always, all opinions and ideas are my own.
hanging valentine pocket
I have a great tutorial for you today that your kids are going to LOVE!
Its a hanging heart pocket for Valentine’s Day! You can hang it on your little one’s door as decoration then on February 14th you can put a valentine from you to them inside for them to find. Doesn’t that sound fun?
To view the tutorial simply watch the YouTube video below.
I would love for you to subscribe to my channel to receive updates when I post new crafty videos!

This video is part of a fun craft group called Crafty Hangouts. A group of bloggers uses similar products and come up with unique ideas of how to use them encompassing a specific theme. This month we are using products provided to us from American Crafts and the theme is Valentine’s Day. The hangouts from all participating bloggers will be airing this week at Crafty Hangouts, and you won’t want to miss them!
perfect heart template
In the video above I promise to share my tutorial for creating the perfect heart template.
Unfortunately I ran out of time to do so in the video, but I have a photo with simple step-by-step instructions.
You will get a perfect heart shape every time following these simple steps!

All you need is a small bowl (these nested measuring cups are perfect for making hearts in staggered sizes), a ruler, pencil, and scrap cardstock.

1. Start by tracing 2 overlapping circles on the cardstock. The exact amount of overlap is negligible.
2. At the points where the circles overlap, draw a line. This will make sure the bottom point of the heart is centered.
3. From the outside bottom edge of the left circle make an angled line to the vertical line. Make sure the line looks like it is continuing on from the circle and not at some odd angle.
4. Do the same to the right circle as you did in step 3.
5. Cut out the perfect heart you just drew!

The perfect heart template certainly comes in handy for this hanging heart pocket.
And what a fun craft to make for the kiddos!
