Star Spangled Flower Pots

Star spangled flower pots are the perfect dress up for plain, inexpensive pots and look great for summer celebrations.

I received free product from DecoArt for this post. As always, all opinions and ideas are my own.

Star Spangled Flower Pots
I thought I would squeeze in one last red, white, and blue project before the 4th!

And this one is so easy you can definitely get it done fast.

With DecoArt’s Patio Paints, I am loving that I can give inexpensive terra cotta pots a complete makeover with just paint!

Which is exactly what I did here, a STAR SPANGLED makeover!

Star Spangled Flower Pots
Star Spangled Flower Pots Supplies:

Terra cotta pots

Patio Paint in Tuscan Red

Patio Paint in Tango Blue

Patio Paint in Cloud White

Assorted paintbrushes

Star Spangled Flower Pots Directions:

Paint the top lip of the pots with the Tango Blue.

It should only take a couple of coats for good coverage.

Be sure to paint the upper portion of the inside of the pot in blue as well.

Paint the rest of the pot white (2-3 coats).

Once the base coats are dry, go back a paint small white stars on the blue with a small paintbrush.

Paint red stripes on the white with a wide straight-edge paintbrush.

Once all of the paint is dry, go back and lightly dry brush the white paint all over the pot to give it a rustic look.

Star Spangled Flower Pots
Fill the pots with your favorite summer flowers.

It’s such a subtle touch of red, white, and blue but it adds so much to my outdoor decor!

Star Spangled Flower Pots
These pots look great filled with flowers sitting on the Americana-themed potting shed patio that my husband and I created last summer!

And not bad for only spending a few dollars in pots.

What would you put in these star spangled flower pots?

I’m thinking they would also look awesome as a patriotic centerpiece, full of stars on picks or even lined with some parchment paper and filled with my patriotic popcorn!
