Casual Indian-Themed Dinner Party {World Market}

November 26, 2012 By: Michele McDonald4 Comments

Have you seen the new Life of Pi movie previews?
Or maybe you’ve already seen the movie! It just came out.
In case you haven’t heard, Life of Pi is the story of an Indian boy named Pi, a zookeeper’s son, who survives a disaster at sea and is thrown into an epic journey. While adrift in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with another, a fearsome Bengal tiger.
You can watch the trailer here!
It looks visually stunning, and it inspired me to create an exotic yet casual Indian-themed dinner party to get my family in the mood to go see the movie!

Of course when I think exotic, my first thoughts go straight to Cost Plus World Market.
Because of their spectacular selection of gourmet goods from around the world, they were my go to place to find everything I needed for my Life of Pi party.

World Market is helping to promote the Life of Pi movie, and had a bright display of items I could use for my tablescape. The napkins are bright and intricately painted and perfect for an Indian-themed party!
Other table accessories include placemats, tableclothes, and more fabric napkins.
So much to choose from!
Also bright and exotic are the selection of dishes and solid-color glasses.
And to make putting together the dinner party even easier is the selection of exotic food World Market offers.
All of the Indian food is grouped together in one area making it super simple to decide what I needed.

For my tablescape I did a mixture of dishware.
I love the intricate pattern on the plates!
I used the exotic fabric napkins as placemats, and a round straw placemat as my centerpiece.

I’m a big fan of naan bread and was happy to see that World Market keeps it stocked.
And its something my boys love! We’re big bread eaters.
I made a yogurt dip to go with it as well as a chai tea for the hubs and I to drink!
To help promote Life of Pi, World Market is hosting a sweepstakes!
  • Grand Prize package includes: a dream trip for 2 to India and a $1,000 World Market Gift card. There will also be 3 runner up prize winners that will each receive a $500 World Market gift card!
  • The Life of Pi Sweepstakes runs from 11/17 – 12/28.
  • If you share the sweepstakes with 5 of your friends (via FB share or email) you can receive 5 additional bonus entries. This is part of the registration process when entering. Users can also enter daily for more chances to win.
