Christmas always sneaks up on me so I like to start my gift planning early so I’m not scrambling in December.
These cute little wood slice DIY holiday ornaments are a fun little gift idea and a great embellishment to add to gift wrap.
You will love making them because they are so simple to create, and the rustic look of the wood slice with the vintage look of the bottle brush wreaths is just so fun!
Bottle Brush Mini Wreath Ornaments
Hot Glue Gun
Paint the front of the wood slices with the chalkboard paint, leaving the edges exposed.
Apply one or two coats as needed.
Normally for chalkboard paint projects you need to “cure” the chalkboard by rubbing it all over with a piece of chalk then erasing it.
Since these will not be reused I skipped that step.
But since I do like the look of a used chalkboard I did rub the paint (once 100% dry) with a well-used chalkboard eraser to give them that well worn look.
Figure out which words you want to spell out on the ornaments, with the bottle brush wreaths acting as the “o” in each word.
Hot glue the wreath to the ornament approximately where it will be located to spell out the word.
The green bottle brush trees are small enough for 3-4 letter holiday words.
The white bottle brush trees are quite a bit larger so stick to 3-letter words for them.
Use a chalk pen to write out the words on the ornaments, adding extra embellishments if you like.
How many more festive words can you come up with for this holiday craft??
These cute DIY wood slice chalkboard ornaments are so easy to make that you’ll be making one for everyone you know!
