Memorialize those special vacations by creating map coasters of all your favorite trips!

Memorialize those special vacations by creating map coasters of all your favorite trips! My little family loves to travel, and we try take at least one trip per year to someplace new. Even before children, my husband and I loved to explore and took several trips around the country. We all love to look at photos and relive our experiences. But I wanted an everyday item that could help us jog our memories!

Map projects of any kind are always super popular. These updated map coasters are a great keepsake of your favorite trips together, whether it be as a couple or as a family, and useful as well.

Memorialize those special vacations by creating map coasters of all your favorite trips!Supplies:
Coasters
Atlas (or computer-printed map)
Decoupage
Red marker

I found these Mason jar lid coasters at Old Time Pottery.

This project is a perfect upcycle for an outdated atlas like this one. Alternatively, you can print specific map locations from your computer. Turn the coaster upside down on the portion of the map you want to use. Draw a circle around the coaster then cut out just to the inside of the circle you drew. Apply decoupage to the top of the coaster then place the map on it. Once dry, add little hearts to the special location(s) on the map. Give the ink a few minutes to dry then top with a coat of decoupage.

Memorialize those special vacations by creating map coasters of all your favorite trips! This is such a quick little project! And these are great reminders of our family's favorite vacation trips, and we'll remember them often since we will use these coasters daily.

  1. I'm so in love with these coasters. We're a military family and each of my 5 family members have been born in different locations. It would be fun to make these with our birth city maps. Thanks for sharing at the #ThisIsHowWeRoll Link Party.

  2. Great idea. Super smart to start with a set of coasters and then make them truly your own with the maps.

  7. Love this idea! hubby and I live in Missouri but one son and his family live in Washington state, another is in California, and yet another is in the Air Force, stationed at Nellis Air Force Base In Las Vegas. I can see making sets of these, half with their current locale and half with ours. What a fun gift that would be! Thank you!
