I love a good makeover and, when it's outdoors, I love it even more!

A few years ago my husband and I spruced up the space outside of my potting shed.

I thought it was worth a re-share because I'm still obsessed with how it turned out!

I have a small potting shed that was in desperate need of an update.

The small garden I had attempted under the window wasn't working out.

It didn't drain well so the plants weren't happy and the dogs loved to use the area as a bed during cooler weather.

The rosemary bush I had planted years ago didn't make it through the last winter.

The entire space was just looking very sad.

It was time to take a fresh look at the space and find a new use for it!

I decided a sitting area and some color was in order.

Can you even believe this is the same space??

My husband and I used supplies we had on hand and built some items from scratch to create a small patio with a sitting area.

As for coloring, I went with an Americana theme (which I am loving!) which I think is perfect for summer, when the patio will get the most use.

This video will quickly show you all the projects that went into creating the new look for the potting shed!

I worked with Old Time Pottery to find items to help decorate the patio.

I found the patriotic burlap bunting and fan at World Market.

I think the pillow and fan are just itching for further decoration, don't you??

The tray and lantern for the tabletop are fun accents within easy reach of lounging in the chair.

The lantern is actually a battery-operated LED light so it looks vintage but has a modern touch.

The Mason jar planter and little flower pot candle were Kirkland's finds.

I found an amazing succulent assortment at Old Time Pottery and love how they look in the sink planter!

This was the perfect pot to place under the vintage drawer we turned into a planter.

I debated on what should go on the edge of the patio next to the door... A large planter? A small ornamental tree?

Ultimately I went with this red lantern, which I fell in love with when I saw it, paired with another bright planter, and a Mason jar with a citronella candle which I already had.

So how is that I have ivy growing out of the red lantern? Easy!

I wrapped wire around a small terra cotta pot just under the top lip then attached that wire to the inside of the lantern where the handles are located.

I placed ivy in the pot and can easily slip it in and out of the wire as needed.

This is my favorite place to sit and drink my morning coffee or watch my boys play in the backyard.
