Today I want to tell you guys about a fabulous new jewelry book that just happens to be written by one of my favorite people who also happens to be a dear friend, Bev from Flamingo Toes! It is currently available online (affiliate link) and Barnes & Noble, but will also be available in store at Joann’s, Michaels, and Barnes & Noble on October 1st.
If you’re already a follower of Bev’s, then you know she can do amazing things with basic jewelry supplies. She has put her talent to work in book form, creating 60 spectacular pieces of jewelry. If you have ever wanted to create your own jewelry but didn’t know where to start, well… this is where you start, guys. No kidding! I’m going to share some sneak peeks of the book and show you why you need to add this book to your craft resource arsenal.
One of my favorite features of the book is the 2-spread project list, in picture form, right in the front of the book! You can see all the jewelry projects in the entire book on these 2 pages. It’s a great way to find which project you want to try first. The projects are also broken down in basic, intermediate, and advanced levels so you can begin where you feel most comfortable.
Bev is known for her amazing ability to create jewelry knock-offs, but my favorite projects have always been her original creations. All 60 jewelry projects in this book are “Bev originals,” and this sweet as honey bangle bracelet is my favorite.
Each tutorial comes with a complete materials list and step-by-step instructions to complete the project. Some even include extra tips and suggestions to help create the item.
Afraid you won’t know what type of tools you will need to create the projects? There is a super handy equipment guide in the back of the book that details every tool and supply you will need for the jewelry projects.
There is also a guide for various jewelry techniques and how to use the jewelry tools needed for these projects. The picture diagrams are super helpful if you’re brand new to jewelry making.
Bev incorporates a lot of different materials into her jewelry making each of these 60 projects unique. No matter your style, there will be multiple pieces of jewelry in the book that will appeal to you as an individual.
Bev is an amazing embroider! She creates her own patterns, and they are always so pretty (and free on her blog). I love that she incorporated her love of embroidery into some of the jewelry projects in this book. The patterns for these projects are available in the back of the book.
And that little embroidery hoop used as a pendant? Bev uses a lot of these cute little items in her jewelry projects. At the very end of the book is a supply source list including the Etsy shops were she finds most of these fun little items.
Not a master embroiderer? Me neither. But there is a list of embroidery techniques at the end of the book with a lot of visuals. It makes me feel confidant that will a little practice I could even embroider that cute little fox!
And did I mention that all of the projects can be made in 30 working minutes? Seriously, you guys, with tiered skills levels, detailed instructions, and technique breakdowns this is THE jewelry book you have always needed.
If you have always wanted to learn to make your own jewelry then this book is perfect for you to start with the basic tutorials and work your way up to the advanced. If you’ve been making jewelry for years you’re sure to find some new techniques you haven’t tried before.
I am so proud of Bev for achieving her dream of writing a book! And I’m so glad I can support her by telling YOU how fabulous the book really is. So grab one on online now and start creating!
