When my son hit 19 months last month it became obvious pretty quickly that he needed a good space in his room that was dedicated to playing with his toys. He has multiple places like this all over the house, but not a good one in his bedroom. I moved the glider rocker out of the way (*sniff* Not much snuggling in the rocker these days!), and set up a small play area using a large baby blanket to define the space.
The first time my son saw this new space he was enthralled! He immediately ran to it and started playing. BUT, the area looked a little bland. So I had the bright idea to add an ABC’s banner to liven up the space. Not only would it be decorative, but he could use it as a learning tool!
I gathered my scrapbook supplies and came up with the above banner. I love how it turned out!
I used papers from the Nana’s Nursery Baby Boy paper pack to make the pennants, accordian backing, and alphabet letters, white cardstock for the scallop circles, and blue crepe paper for the larger circle. I used my Slice to cut the scallop circles and alphabet.
I used left over yarn from my yarn wreath project to tie the pennants together. I attached eyelets to the holes for the yarn to go through to make sure there would be no ripping if when my son decides the banner was a toy.
And, finally, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommies and grandmothers out there!! This is my second year to celebrate, and I feel so lucky to be a mommy.
And I got just what I asked for for Mother’s Day!!! Remember in this post I was debating about the Cricut and the Silhouette? Well, I made my choice! I can’t wait to use it!!
