I just can’t get enough of the faux cross-stitch and nontraditional cross-stitch projects! This Faux Cross-Stitch Necklace is my latest creation. It pairs perfectly with my faux cross-stitch painted dress! And you can whip one up in a jiffy.
Supplies:
blank pendant (this one is from Hobby Lobby)
gel pens that show on a dark surface (bright colors)
chain
Dimensional Magic
cross-stitch pattern
jump ring
washi tape
Use a piece of washi tape across the pendant to keep your cross-stitch pattern straight. Draw the pattern on with the gel pens. Allow the pattern to completely dry then add Dimensional Magic, being careful not to let the tip of the bottle touch the pen markings. Allow to dry, probably overnight just to be safe. Then simply add the pendant to your chain of choice with a jump ring.
The Dimensional Magic protects the design. If it were to get wet the ink may run so I like that extra protective layer.
I got a little excited about adding the Dimensional Magic so you can see a few of my lines got blurred by adding it before the ink was dry. But unless you are right on top of the necklace looking at it you can’t really see the imperfections. But I love the look and how simple it was to make!
You could also draw the pattern in white to look like chalk art.
Now I’m on the hunt for my next faux cross-stitch project!

This is such a pretty necklace! And using the same pattern you've been showing us for other projects too - very versatile! I would love if you shared this at our Yarn Fanatic Party - http://eyeloveknots.blogspot.com/2015/06/yarn-fanatic-party-39-chalk-full-of.html.

What a creative, unique idea! My aunt taught me to cross stitch when I was seven or so, and I've love to do it ever since.
Thanks for sharing at #SmallVictoriesSundayLinkup ! I pinned your post to the group board Small Victories Sunday.
