Summer Outdoor Protection

When it comes to protecting your family this summer, don’t forget those “invisible” elements outdoors!

If you want to find my family during the summertime, your best bet is to look outside! From gardening to camping to trips to the zoo to splashing at the pool, it seems that most all of our activities take place in the great outdoors. And for all of these events there are two items that are a must to protect my little family, OFF!^®insect repellent and Banana Boat® SunComfort™ sunscreen, both of which can be found at your local Walmart.

We protect ourselves from bug bites with OFF!^® insect repellent and prefer the OFF! Deep Woods^®. Mosquitoes and ticks are no joke around here. The last thing we want to be worried about while hiking and camping is getting bug bites! With the threat of mosquito-related diseases (Zika and West Nile) so prevalent, we’re not taking any chances.

OFF!^® can even be sprayed on clothing, such as cotton, nylon, and wool, which greatly helps repel ticks that tend to fall from the trees.

If your little ones are like mine, they are more prone to get mosquito bites that adults. We never hike without a thorough application of OFF!^®, and we often apply it to them in the evening when they are playing outside at home.

I always seemed easy to sunburn as a child so I’m pretty paranoid about making sure my boys are properly protected from the sun’s harmful UV rays. My sunscreen of choice has always been Banana Boat® for their variety of products, and we recently tried out the SunComfort™ Clear UltraMist. I always go for the 50 SPF when I know we’re going to be playing in water, and every summer we get a membership to our community pool, so we are in the water a lot. The SunComfort™ acts as a moisturizer which is great against all of the chlorine in the pool.

I can’t wait to try out an unique feature of the Banana Boat® SunComfort™, but it will have to wait until the end of summer when we head to the beach. Most sunscreen attracts sand, but SunComfort™ allows you to brush it right off!
