The #1 Best Bobbin Storage {EVER!}
This is the easiest, most clever, and BEST bobbin storage idea ever!

I do not sew a lot (though you would not be able to tell that my by fabric stash), but it does not mean I do not like to be prepared.
And by prepared I mean I want to have every color of thread possible available when the sewing bug strikes.
Please tell me I'm not alone in this?
For the longest time I kept all my spools and bobbins stashed in a box, which was a complete pain to sort through when I needed them.
Not to mention trying to match the bobbins to the threads of spool.
I needed to come up with the best bobbin storage idea for my craft space.
You guys!! Do you ever have an idea and think it is sheer genius?
Then you think about it more and think maybe it's more of a "duh" moment.
That is so me with this bobbin and thread storage idea!
When I first shared this idea in 2015, I had not seen it anywhere online.
Could I actually be the first???
Probably not, but maybe the first to publish it.
BEST Bobbin Storage

I really wanted to store each bobbin WITH the spool of thread it goes with.
I mean, it only makes sense, right??
I purchased one of these wooden spool holders (affiliate link) that holds 60 spools of threads and was going to find a way to rig it to do just that.
Then I realized I could store the bobbins under the matching spools.
The prongs are plenty long enough to hold a bobbin and thread.
Genius? Or great big DUH?
You can decide for yourself, but the method is spectacular regardless.
And that's why I call it the BEST Bobbin Storage EVER!

If you look to the top right in this photo, you can see how I store the entire spool rack in my craft space.
I used 3M Velcro Strips (affiliate link) to the back and it hangs on a metal shelf right next to my peg board.
This puts the rack up off of my much coveted table space and still within easy reach when I need the threads and bobbins.
This is definitely the best bobbin storage to keep your threads and matching bobbins together.
It's so simply it's silly, right?
Now I'm off to pat myself on the back and see what other genius (or duh!) ideas I can come up with.
Eight years later I am still using this method, so I must be doing something right.
How do you store your bobbins??

What a simple way to keep the bobbins and thread spools together!!! Thank you so much for this simple and inexpensive fix! I've been searching for a solution!
WOW, so simple but never occurred to me. Thank you for this amazing tip!
So simple so brillant. Just moved my matching bobbins.
Ever so clever! I use Bobbin Savers and hang them on a peg hook in my sewing room. 🙂
Great idea - now to move all my bobbins to a storage like this and get rid of all those boxes. Thank you for sharing at Share It One More Time. Cathy
I like the way you think. I don't have nearly as many colors of thread as you do, but I do something very similar. Instead of storing my bobbins under the thread they match, I store 2-3 bobbins of each color on the wodden spool behind the thread that they match. Since I have more than one bobbin wound, this also keeps me from running out mid project.
That is a great idea, Jessica!!
I think this is genius and so so easy! Since our crafts room isn't really where it needs to be, though it's functional, I don't have "fancy" things to organize with just yet. BUT, I do keep the bobbins and the spools they go with in a random container and nothing goes in there except the bobbins and spools. I like your idea so much better! And, it's actually prettier, too! 🙂
This is so clever! I'm working on getting my sewing room organized and will be implementing this system for my thread and bobbins. I would love for you to link up at the Stitch It, Blog It, Share It Link Party going on now at behindtheseamssewing.com.

i use the june tailor racks (120) and i use the last 3 rows for plastic and metal bobbins, each spindle can hold 2-3 bobbins

Genius! I have the same thread rack and TODAY this is so happening - thank you. So glad I saw your link at the Wildly Original Party.
i think this was an ah-hah moment. I can't believe how simple this is and yet I haven't done it myself. Thanks so much for making my life easier and sharing this with Share It One More Time. Cathy
Clever and efficient. Love it. I keep my spool and matching full bobbins in little bags in my sewing basket. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop. xo
Fantastic idea! Thank you for sharing it at the #SmallVictoriesSundayLinkup!
I usually store mine in a basket, but I like this better because if they come undone they cannot tangle....#turnituptuesday, #pinned
My mom needs this. May have to do this for mother's day for her. Thanks for sharing!
Definitely genius! Functional and required little effort. My kind of idea. I found you on the live laugh linky party. Thanks for sharing your great idea!
Great idea. I'm just starting to sew, so I'll take all the help I can get.

You are a genius! Thanks so much for sharing your fantastic idea. I'm trying it for sure.
Super genius!! I"m going to go through and get rid of my bobbin holders! I love how colorful this is too. 🙂
Omg. What a brilliant and simple idea. I have had one of these for years and have been purchasing Bobbin Mates all thus time. Ugh thanks for the great idea.
