So I kind of have a thing for wreaths. I’m not even going to tell you how many I have. For each and every holiday. And in between. It’s a lot. Eventually I will run out of doors to put them all on! But I love how festive they are.

I am super excited about today’s adhesive vinyl project because it’s a wreath, BUT it’s 2D and goes in a frame! I can put it in different places than an actual wreath AND it’s interactive. This thankful sign, once framed, can be written on with a dry erase marker so that people can write what they are thankful for on the leaves!

You will need a 12×12 picture frame, a sheet of 12×12 scrapbook paper, and Lustre Specialty Adhesive Vinyl Sheets in Champagne, Red, Yellow, Orange, and Bronze.

In my Silhouette software I found some fall leaf shapes from the Library. I made sure they were all relatively the same size and formed them into a wreath shape on a 12×12 template to get an idea of how the leaves would fit together once cut.

I copy and pasted the leaves so that I could keep one set in the shape of the wreath as a reference and used the other set to cut the leaves. I cut three of the leaves on each sheet of the red, yellow, orange, and bronze vinyl.

The font for “thankful” is called Bromello. I welded the letters together prior to cutting and cut it out on the champagne vinyl.

Peel the leaves off of the backing one at a time and place them on the scrapbook paper. Use the leaf template in the software as a guide.

Once the leaves are all in place, use transfer paper to apply the “thankful” to the center of the paper.

I love the how the metallic sheen of the leaves pop off of this dark colored scrapbook paper!

Place the paper in the frame and you’re all set to pass around the dry erase marker so everyone can write what they are thankful for over each of the leaves.

I’m loving how it turned out! And it will be way easier to store than a traditional wreath.

And it’s a great conversation starter on Thanksgiving day if you pass it around the table for everyone to fill in.

Can you emboss that metallic vinyl?

That is a great question, Donna! I don't see why not. However, it may make it difficult to smooth the vinyl down on the surface you are putting it on if you emboss first.
