It’s about that time to start spook-ifying your house with Halloween decor!

Whether you just decorate with a few jack-o-lanterns or go full out haunted house, it’s always fun to add something new to the mix.

These DIY bone candlesticks are the perfect subtly spooky decor for a mantel, vignette, or your next Halloween party.

And the best part?

You can make them in about 30 minutes and for less than $20!

At first glance they just look like overly large candlesticks, but a closer look shows then for what they are… bones!

Spooky, right?

Bone Candlesticks Directions:

First, select which bones you want to use as candlesticks.

In this set there are 4 large long bones, 2 smaller long bones, skull, spine, 2 hands, and 2 feet.

The larger bones are perfect for tall candlesticks but the spine and even the skull could work as well.

Decide which end of the bones will be the top and which will be the bottom.

Use a box cutter to carefully cut a round hole in the top of the bone that the candle will fit into.

Use the box cutter to carefully cut a flat working surface in the bottom of the bone.

It needs to sit relatively flush on the candle plate.

Hot glue the bottom of the bone to the plate.

Once secure, place more hot glue around the base of the bone to create a seal between the bone and the plate.

Use a funnel (or make one out of paper) and pour ~1 cup of sand into the hollow bone.

This will make the candlestick bottom heavy and less likely to tip over.

Place the candle in the top round hole in the top of the bone and hot glue in place.

Hot glue Spanish moss to the seams where the bone meets the candle plate and the candle.

The moss works well to hide seams AND adds an extra spooky touch to the candlesticks.

Repeat this process with 2 other bones to complete the trio.

They don’t all need to look exactly the same.

These bone candlesticks would be perfect to add height to a Halloween mantel or as a Halloween party table centerpiece.

They are quickly becoming my favorite Halloween decor!

Now to create something equally spooky with all of the leftover bones…
