So you know Duck Tape® has some amazing patterned tape (the Spider-Man design is a personal favorite in our house), but did you know they have created some fun designs for holidays, too? When Duck Tape® contacted me about decorating a pumpkin with some of their Halloween tape, I was super excited to pick out a pattern!

I really loved the purple Duck Tape® with the whimsical spiders. It looked like something my little boys could appreciate and not scare them. We like to go with a slightly spooky Halloween theme around here; no gore and guts.

I selected a faux pumpkin in extreme need of a makeover. This pumpkin was a little tricky to work with because of the deep grooves. I’m going to show you my trick for making it work with the Halloween tape.

I started by removing the stem which simply involved plucking it off. Begin covering the bulbous areas of the pumpkin with strips of tape. The deep grooves are not covered by the tape because the bulbous areas are so wide. Cut strips of tape long enough to cover the grooves from top to bottom then rip them in half lengthwise. Cover the grooves with the thin stripes of tape until the pumpkin is completely covered.

The pumpkin needed a little more dressing up for my taste so I made a Duck Tape® leaf and some trendrils.

To make the leaf, take a 5″ long piece of tape and fold it over on itself sticky side to sticky side so that you have a piece of tape 2.5″ long. Cut a leaf shape out of the tape.

To make the tendrils, take a 3″ long piece of tape, and fold it over lengthwise on itself. Cut that piece into 2 strips.

Attached the leaf then the two stems to the pumpkin. For the tendrils, roll them so they look curly then use a small dab of adhesive to attach the end of the tendril to the pumpkin. This will ensure they stay curled on the pumpkin.

Reattach the stem, and you’re all set!

I love how my spooky spider pumpkin came out! And my boys love looking at all of the spiders
