2013 Patriotic Decor

patriotic mantel
Since tomorrow is July 4th (how did that happen??), I thought I better get my act together if I was going to show off the patriotic decor we have up around the house! My favorite place to decorate, as per usual, is our mantel.
For people who don’t actually use the fireplace, I do really love our mantel!
I also love how the red and blue really pop off of the white mantel.
My patriotic doily banner is a must have on the mantel since I made it two years ago.
I also draped a flag scarf I purchased at GroupDealz across the top of the mantel.
Let’s take a closer look at the other elements!

red white blue mantel
Of course I had to include my new state love art. I mean, the colors are pretty much perfect for a red, white, and blue mantel, right?
I also have one of those metal stars that you can find at almost any craft store and I covered it with scrapbook paper and made a paper medallion for the middle.
And you seriously cannot get any simpler than the apothecary jar. It is simply scrapbook paper trimmed down to size and rolled into the inside. Easy peasy!

Over on the other end of the mantel is my Uncle Sam’s hat vase, a large tissue paper medallion leftover from a past birthday party, and a cute little plate I found at Home Goods a couple of months ago. I added some paper and twine bunting to the plate to dress it up a bit for the holidays.
usa mantel
My USA punched cans sit front and center and look great with the little tea lights on inside them!
flag planter
Outside, I put my DIY flag planter out on the front steps with a few other small patriotic items.

My patriotic ruffle wreath still dominates the front door!
I love how it looks with the rustic planter. They compliment each other perfectly!
Happy 4th of July, y’all!

It all looks so sweet! I love how you recovered that star - that looks so cool. And the wreath and doily banner are still favorites of mine! Soooo cute!

Nice! I love the banner. I had grand plans to decorate for this season but since we're moving soon, I guess I'll have to wait until next year.
