LEGO Superhero Birthday Party

A LEGO superhero birthday party is a fun combination for superhero fans and brick builders!

I have included a list of supplies at the end of the post.

Over the weekend we celebrated my youngest son's 4th birthday party!

I can't believe he has already gotten so big. I am in complete denial!

This little guy is head over heels for all things LEGOS. He selected a LEGO Superhero birthday party as his theme.

Seeing as we've had both LEGO and superhero parties in the past, I thought this was totally doable.

So buckle in, I have a LOT of photos to share with you!

LEGO Superhero Birthday Party Decorations

Let's begin with some of the decorations.

While the characters were based on the LEGO Superheroes, the rest of the decor was pretty much comic book superheroes such as city skylines, "POW" symbols, and such.

It was a fun mixture!

I designed SVG files for my Silhouette to cut out the LEGO Superheroes.

I was so pleased with how they turned out!

While we used 9 superheroes on the LEGO Superhero invitation, we narrowed it down to the top 5 favorites to decorate with.

I created a simple city skyline backdrop to match the skyline banner that I purchased 2 years ago when my oldest turned 4 and had a superhero-themed birthday party.

The backdrop on the mantel could not have been easier to make!

The large city skyline in the back is simply from a roll of chalkboard paper.

I cut out a city scene with scissors and used chalk to quickly draw on a few windows.

I attached it to the wall with Frog Tape.

The smaller city skyline in the front is leftover decor from our previous superhero party.

My oldest uses it as a prop when he plays.

It is simply cardboard and black scrapbook paper.

Before making the Silhouette templates for the LEGO Superheroes, I had made regular templates and printed them out to make superheroes out of large sheets of foam.

I used the full-bodied foam superheroes to decorate the food table which you will see shortly.

I also made an extra set of just the superhero heads from the foam to make a fun banner.

I used a fabulous superhero alphabet set (see link at the end of the post) to spell out our little superhero's name.

We'll be hanging in his room now that the party is over.

LEGO Superhero Birthday Party Activities

The LEGO website has a plethora of fun things that are perfect for parties.

I downloaded several of the coloring pages and had them printed as an easy activity to entertain our little party goers until it was time to eat.

They just loved them!

LEGO Superhero Birthday Party Table

Speaking of eating, I just love how the food table turned out!

The LEGO Superheroes decorated the front of the table.

We stuck with a red, blue, and yellow theme.

I love simplicity of the cake paired with the superhero backdrop!

I always like to put our birthday cakes from and center.

We served Superhero Sky Jell-O and Super "Hero" sandwiches as well as "Hulk" green grapes and Super Punch.

The Superhero Sky Jell-O was simply a layer of blue Jell-O, a layer of Cool Whip, and another layer of blue Jell-O.

Jell-O is always a fun treat for little party guests!

I also recreated Captain America's shield in fruit and marshmallow form.

You simply need a round serving dish, quartered strawberries, blueberries, and mini marshmallows.

This is such a simple but fun party food idea!

For the cake topper, I borrowed LEGO superhero minifigures from my kids.

They stand nicely on the cake, and wash off easily afterwards.

How about that cake??

It was 6 layers of red, yellow, and blue pound cake with buttercream frosting.

The city skyline was made with sugar sheet fondant that I cut in half (it is 8"x11") and cut out the skyline with a clean X-acto knife.

It sticks to the buttercream simply by wetting the buttercream slightly and pressing the fondant on.

The little balls at the base of the cake are mini jawbreakers (but not hard like their bigger brothers so no crunching teeth at the party).

LEGO Superhero Birthday Party Backdrop

I'm really excited about the backdrop for the food table.

It's all scrapbook paper!

I pieced the sheets together with packing tape on the back.

I can simply cut the tape and still use the paper later.

The number 4 in the center is front the same superhero alphabet used to spell out my son's name earlier.

LEGO Superhero Birthday Party Favor Bags

I put together some simple goody bags for our little party goers.

I decorated the front with more LEGO Superhero heads made with the Silhouette.

Superhero Gak was one of the things we included in the goody bags.

My boys made it so that made it even more fun for them to pass out to their friends!

It's just a combination of Elmer's glue, borax, and water.

Another thing we included in the goody bags was homemade LEGO crayons.

These were unbelievably easy to make!

The LEGO minifigure molds held 1 broken up crayon in each mold and melted down in 15 minutes at 265 degrees F.

The LEGO brick molds were a little larger and took 2-3 crayons to fill which is why they are multi-colored.

They melted down in 20-25 minutes at 265 degrees F.

Also included in the goody bags were superhero masks, Pop Rocks, superhero bracelets, and homemade mini comic books using the comic downloads on the LEGO website.

The LEGO superhero birthday party was SO fun! And my little guy loved it which makes all the hard work TOTALLY worthwhile.

I had all digital items printed at Staples on 110 lb cardstock except for the coloring pages which were printed on regular paper.
