Apothecary Jar Update with Glass Paint

antique+glass+knob+11
Its time for project number 2 using DecoArt‘s new glass paint!
You can see how I used it to transform a shiny new glass knob to an antiqued beauty here.

I decided to give this apothecary jar a fun update using the 3D Opaque Gloss Enamels set.
This jar was an inexpensive purchase from Hobby Lobby that I use to hold
our unpopped popcorn for movie night.

First I decided on which stencil I wanted to use.
I wanted something relatively simple, but that would make a statement.

Once I selected the stencil, it was as easy as sticking it onto the jar and using my finger to press down all of the edges.
Then, starting with the white opaque paint (which comes with its own application tip), I simply started coloring within the area of the stencil.
I wanted my flowers to be white, and I did them first.
Then I applied the black opaque paint to the stems.

For these stencils, the packaging suggests removing them before the paint has a chance to dry.
I did just that and with fabulous results!
I allowed the paint to cure for 4 days before returning the apothecary jar back to my kitchen.

I think the black and white flowers make a simple yet elegant statement to my jar!
