DIY Baby Banner

Make a DIY baby banner using chipboard elements and real diapers!

DIY baby banner
One last baby shower gift.

After this I REALLY need to start working on projects for my own baby who will be here in 3 weeks!

This DIY baby banner was a fun project to make for a friends who is having her first baby.

maya road chipboard shirts
DIY Baby Banner Supplies:

To make the above banner, I used Maya Road chipboard t-shirts.

You can also simply cut t-shirt shapes out of patterns cardstock.

retro race cars
My friend is using a cute Zoom! Zoom! collection for her baby’s room.

It involves retro looking race cars.

I downloaded some photos from the internet with the race cars on them, isolated the cars, resized them to fit my chipboard t-shirts, and cut them out with my X-acto knife.

mod podge race cars to shirts
I used Mod Podge and scrapbook paper in coordinating colors to cover the t-shirts.

Then I attached the 4 race cars to 4 of the t-shirts.

add diapers to baby banner
To *up* the cuteness factor I wanted to add a diaper to each of the t-shirts.

I trimmed a #1 diaper so that only an inch and a half or so would be glued to the back of the t-shirts.

I glued down each layer of the diaper so it would not be flapping around with Beacon’s 3-in-1.

add stripes to baby banner
I added some stripes to the t-shirts using leftover scraps of paper from all of the t-shirts for some added interest.

punch holes with crop-a-dile
I used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes in each of the shirt sleeves and used coordinating colors of ribbon to tie the t-shirts together.

(If you’re unfamiliar with the Crop-a-dile, it cuts through chipboard, cardboard, acrylic, fabric, etc. like butter! Definitely worth the investment!)

add buttons to baby banner
I added some matching buttons to the t-shirts just to give them a little more oomph.

The t-shirt to the right is in the center of the banner.

The paper I used for this shirt is leftover from my Keep Calm print I made for my friend in a previous post.

Since there are only 4 race cars in the Zoom! Zoom! collection, I used the foam letters to put the baby’s initials on this shirt.

And now its hanging over the changing table!

I think the DIY baby banner turned out pretty darn cute if I do say so myself!
