BOO Banner

October 24, 2010 By: Michele McDonald33 Comments

Time for one last Halloween craft project!
You may recall the Boo banner from this post that I saw at a scrapbook convention last month. I loved it and knew I could make it without having to buy the kit. Mostly because I already had these BOO letters decorated and ready to go from last year!
And I like my version even better! Nice and spooky.
I took scrap cardboard from a box and cut out pennant shapes which I then covered with purple fabric. I inked all of the edges of the fabric just to give it that extra eerie touch.
I cut ovals out of some fabulous spider web scapbook paper and used black glitter glue around the edges. I scored black cardstock to make the fan behind the spider web paper. Finally, I attached the chipboard letters to the front then attached the entire bit to the pennant.
I attached the pennants to one another with green ribbon then tied black tulle in between. I also used black glitter glue to make “ric rac” in the corners of the banners.
I wanted a little something extra so I cut some ghosts freehand out of Silhouette’s white heat transfer material and ironed it on to some miniature pennants. To dress them up a bit more I outlined these little guys with black glitter glue and filled in their eyes and mouths.
I’m loving in on my kitchen hutch!
I can’t wait until Halloween next weekend!

By the way, DON’T FORGET to go vote at Sew Dang Cute for round 1 of Crafting with the Stars!!
Voting is open until 10pm MST Monday night.
You might think you know which project is mine, and you might not! I kind of stepped out of the box for this one with lots of encouragement from my star, Beckie from Infarrantly Creative. 🙂
And don’t forget the link party begins tomorrow so you can link your knock off project over there, too!

I love decorations like this because they add just enough and don’t take up a lot of room when you are ready to take them down. Love all the details you’ve shown up close.
