This is sponsored post on behalf of Michaels. As always, all opinions and ideas are 100% my own.
One of my favorite gifts to give during the holidays is food. It’s perfect for neighbors, the mailman, and even as an extra side gift for the teachers at school. But it’s not just the food that I give that I want to be amazing, but the packaging and presentation as well. And I’ve got that all cinched up this year thanks to the Recollections holiday paper collection at Michaels!
Who said paper embellishments are just for scrapbooking?
I gathered a fun grouping of supplies from the Recollections holiday collection. You can find all of the holiday supplies in the paper crafting section at Michaels, mostly located on the end caps. And, guys, this isn’t even the half of it. They had some amazing kits for holiday decorations, fabulous sticker labels and holiday tags… I was drooling. Just a bit.
My supply list is as follows:
Christmas washi tape
paper milk cartons
paper bags
mini garland
printed paper rolls (wood-themed!)
sticker embellishments
red jute twine
Christmas tree wood embellishments
gift tags
doilies
die cut glitter snowflakes
Let’s start with the paper bags because these are super simple to embellish! For one I simply wrapped the mini garland around 3 times. Totally cute in and of itself!
For the other, I taped down a Kraft doily, stuck one of the larger snowflakes on top and ran the twine through it and tied it off on the back of the bag. I topped it with one of the wooden Christmas trees. Depending on who ends up with this bag I can easily monogram the tree to personalize it.
I used one of the doilies to place the cookies on in the bag. It’s just an extra embellishment, and I love how it looks!
Let’s move on to the milk cartons. These are THE cutest thing I’ve ever seen, even unembellished. They are fairly small, but would be easy to fill up with Hershey Kisses or some other holiday candy. They even open at the top with a spout like a real milk carton!
So that I could place cookies in and out of the cartons, I opted to punch holes in the top and tie off with twine. This way the entire top will open and allow the cookies to be pulled out. The box is 3×3 inside so the perfect size for a Christmas cookie (or fudge!).
You can see I used a combination of all of the embellishments to decorate the milk cartons. I think my favorite may be the birch paper!
I am calling this a dry run (and, yes, the family is THRILLED to be having holiday cookies already!) so when it is time to really fill up these cartons and bags for holiday gifts I will be all set!
Containers? CHECK!
Embellished? CHECK!
Cute? DOUBLE CHECK!
Michaels is notorious for having their Recollections brand on sale. Like a lot. If fact, I purchased all of these items for 40% off! Because they are already priced so well I basically got them for a steal. Proooobably why so much ended up in my shopping cart.
So have you seen any of the Recollection holiday collection? What’s your favorite? I’m curious!!
Haven’t seen it yet? Have a favorite from my supply list above? I’d love to hear we have similar tastes! 😉
My personal faves are the Kraft doilies (hello! KRAFT doilies!) and the wood-themed paper rolls.
