These faux leather gift card holders are a perfectly sweet way to dress up an otherwise simple gift.
I have a simple but chic idea to dress up any gift cards you plan on handing out this Christmas. I have several family members that I love to give gift cards to for the holidays. They are family members I don’t see often and can’t always keep up with what their current favorite things are. With a gift card, I figure they can get exactly what they want which will make us both happy!
I used this gorgeous faux leather in Tropic, White, Gold, and Red. It’s backed with felt and so soft.
The faux leather comes in 8 1/2″ x 36″ sheets. Cut off 3″ wide strips from the Tropic, Red, and Gold giving 3″ x 8 1/2″ strips of faux leather. 3″ is plenty wide enough to fit a standard-sized gift card.
Trim off 1 1/2″ from the end of each strip. These smaller pieces can be mixed and matched to use as embellishments on each holder.
Fold the long strip of fabric in half and make a crease in the leather. Open back up and position the smaller faux leather strip where you want to stitch it on. Sew across the strip. I used binding clips to keep the leather in place so I would not have to puncture it with a pin.
Fold the strip back in half and stitch down one side, across the bottom, and back up the other side. I played around with the stitch size and it does add an extra decorative touch to the leather.
Finally, use sharp scissors to cut a half circle in the top center of the holder to allow the gift card to be easily pulled out.
To further dress up the holders, add some bling to the small strip of faux leather! These little snowflake pearl gems are a perfect addition. Simply glue to the faux leather.
The white faux leather is perfect for cutting into small gift tags. Punch a hole in the top of the tag and the side of the gift card holder (a Crop-a-dile will cut through the faux leather like butter!) and attach the two with twine. Use a Sharpie to write the To/From.
Now I just need to finish purchasing gift cards! And I may just whip up a few more of these festive gift card holders for teacher gifts as well.
Happy holidays, y’all!
