Finding Your Christmas Style

October 21, 2016 By: Michele McDonald5 Comments

Finding your decorating style for the holidays does not have to be hard. Especially if you shop somewhere where it’s all organized for you!

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Hobby Lobby.

Have you found your Christmas style? I feel like mine evolves a little every year. I started out pretty traditional, sticking mainly to reds and greens, when we moved into our first home 12 years ago. The last few years I’ve been adding some rustic and natural elements to my Christmas decor. And I definitely have a love for the vintage Christmas style and sneak that in as well.

And then I go into Hobby Lobby. I love how they group their various Christmas styles together to make decorating a breeze. The problem is, I want them all! I want to decorate each room in my house in a different style. Traditional red and green in the living room… candy canes and gumdrops in the kitchen… rustic decor in the living room… nostalgic decor in the bonus room… They make it so hard to settle on just one style with so many amazing Christmas decor pieces!

I collected some photos so you can see what I mean.

I would definitely consider this sign to be traditional since it sticks to the classic red and green Christmas colors, but it’s also very on trend as far as today’s style goes. Typography and signage is very popular right now. Plus, glitter. You can NOT go wrong with glitter at Christmas!

Another traditional item is this peppermint pillow. It is so plush and perfect for decorating sofas and beds at Christmas! My little boys would love these.

I mentioned that I’ve been adding rustic and natural elements into my Christmas style lately. This “wood” joy art is exactly something I would add into my decor. I love this style, and it can easily be incorporated in to traditional Christmas decor in small doses.

This faux wood slice sign is also another fun rustic piece and completely on trend right now.

Vintage trucks all dolled up for holidays are definitely trendy right now. You can check off multiple popular trends with this one sign: plaid, pallets, typography, lights…

Speaking of plaid… I found this plaid dinner plate, matching plaid bowls, mugs, and even cake stands at Hobby Lobby. I love this for a multitude of reasons. It can be dressed up or down depending on your style. It would look amazing set on a rustic wooden table with evergreens as the centerpiece or set on a pretty white Christmas tablecloth with bouquets of poinsettias in the center of the table.

And then there is the nostalgic Christmas decor that takes me straight back to my childhood! A jolly Santa like this with his rosy cheeks was a staple in my mom’s Christmas decorations back in the ’80’s.

Not to mention this adorable reindeer! I love for my little boys share my nostalgia for days gone by, and they love it when I point out things I had when I was their age.

And then we go back even further. I am such a sucker for the vintage-style Christmas items. I’ve started a little collection of them so they their own vignette that they decorate each year. But the collection continues to grow, especially when I see things like this adorable pink Santa!

And, of course, the bottle brush Christmas trees. I find it very hard to walk past them without getting at least one to add to my growing collecting. Aren’t those colors amazing?

I think the “sweet” style is sheer perfection for decorating a kitchen. A 3 foot tree full of candy ornaments? Yes, please! A gingerbread village on the kitchen island? Definitely!

Next up we have the glam Christmas style. It’s very bold and very shiny with a lot of gold and white. It’s classically clean to look at but stuns with it’s glamor. I’m kind of infatuated with this glitter NOEL sign.

Gold is also super trendy right now. Especially the gold foil look. I have a feeling this ornament will fly off the shelves!

And the final trend, which happens to look pretty amazing for Christmas, is the chalkboard art trend. White, red, and green on a black background just works. This trend has been going strong for years now and isn’t likely to be going anywhere any time soon. Hobby Lobby carries a number of adorable chalk art Christmas pieces, and this sleigh really caught my eye.

Do you recognize your style in any of these photos? Do you like to blend multiple ones like I do? Whether you know your Christmas style or are looking for a new one, Hobby Lobby has what you are looking for. Just try not to buy it all. I dare you!
