Man Cave Sign with Bottle Opener – perfect for Father’s Day or Dad’s birthday!
When I can’t find my kids in the house or yard, chances are they are in my husband’s detached garage, a.k.a. “The Man Cave.” They love it in there! It’s a functional space for all of my husband’s tools, various equipment, and his toys. And my boys are lucky enough to have a space of their own in there, too, for their own tools and toys.
With Father’s Day just around the corner, I figure the boys need some signage in their space marking it as their own. And to help them get their root beer and cream soda drinking on, I’m going to include a handy bottle opener, too!
Supplies:
Americana Decor Satin Enamels in Seaside Blue and Dark Denim
Americana Decor Metallics in Pewter
Wood block
Bottle opener
Wood letters
Not shown:
Plastic letters
Stencil
Nails
Hot glue gun
I painted the wood block in Seaside Blue and the letters in Dark Denim. The bottle opener was a shiny silver and wasn’t working for me. Plus the wording was in green which didn’t go with my color scheme at all so it received a coat of Pewter.
Apply 2 coats of each for the best coverage.
I attached the bottle opener to the wood block using the screws that came with it. Once in, I painted a couple of coats of Pewter on the screws so they would blend it.
To avoid having blank space on the sign, I applied a little triangle stencil along the top. 1 thick coat of Dark Denim did the trick.
These plastic letters were something I had in my craft stash, but I think you can still find them in craft stores in the scrapbooking section. They are the Heidi Swapp Ghost Letters, basically plastic letters. I gave the back a couple of coats of the Dark Denim.
These letters cannot be glued down due to the paint being on the back. So to keep up the “manly” appearance of the sign, and add some industrial flair, I nailed the letters down.
Finally, go back and hot glue the wooden letters to the sign.
This sign is perfect to sit on a shelf or hang on the wall! And my guys will love having a new marker for their space.
Perfect for Father’s Day, but it will make all the boys happy!

That is so cute!! And looks like it isn't too hard to make once you break it down like that :)
