This is a sponsored post on behalf of Expressions Vinyl. As always, all ideas and opinions are my own.
Working out is not my favorite thing. In fact, it’s one of my least favorite things right up there with folding laundry and bathing my children. But like those other two chores, it is something that needs to be done. A job in blogging doesn’t exactly get the heart pumping so exercise is a must. But it doesn’t mean I have to like it!
In fact, if I’m going to have to workout when I don’t want to I might as well be snarky about it! So I created some Passive Aggressive Workout Gear to make me feel better about one of my least favorite chores using heat transfer vinyl and adhesive vinyl from Expressions Vinyl. I would much rather eat than workout so I centered my snarky comments as such.
When I workout I lean towards using either the treadmill or that horrid Jillian Michaels 30 Minute Workout video. So I already had some plain-Jane accessories that were just asking to be spruced up.
Supplies:
Fluorescent Heat Transfer Vinyl in Blue, Raspberry, and Green
Polished Metal Adhesive Vinyl in Blue
Transfer Tape
Yoga mat
Towel
Head and wrist sweatbands
I designed the passive aggressive phrases in my Silhouette Studio software.
Remember: Flip images/words horizontally for heat transfer!
Place heat transfer vinyl face down (color side down) on the cutting mat. Once the phrases are cut, carefully peel back the negative space.
Weed out extra vinyl from inside letters and, in this case, cupcake images.
Since the headband and wristbands stretch, go ahead and stretch them a bit before ironing on the htv. I did this by wrapping them around a piece of cardboard. Carefully place the htv on the band and apply heat. Allow to cool then peel back the plastic.
The htv on the headband and wristbands will look a little wrinkly when not in use, which is totally fine. What is important is that when they are being worn the htv will not rip from being stretched.
I made the adhesive vinyl lettering for the yoga mat pretty large and was only using a 12×12 sheet of vinyl so I cut the sentence into two halves and applied them one at a time to the top of the mat using Transfer Tape. Smooth letters on well.
You can see that the mat is textured but the vinyl stuck pretty well. I made sure to apply it to a low contact area at the very edge of the mat. It should stay for a long while. AND I was able to express my love of tacos. If this doesn’t make me smile while I listen to Jillian, I don’t know what will!
This little guy was kind enough to help me showoff my new and improved workout gear!
Stay #HANGRY, my friends!

How do you get the vinyl not to crack when stretched? Is this sport flex htv or everyday htv?

You definitely want to use a sport flex vinyl for the headband and wrist bands!
