Simple Dr. Seuss Shirt

Next month is Dr. Seuss’s birthday! Last year my son’s class was able to dress up as their favorite character. At that time One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish was his favorite book so I asked him if he wanted to pick a character from there. Luckily for me, he chose the little yellow fish from the phrase “This one has a little star.” Easy peasy!!

Next, I traced the star template with a disappearing ink pen. Then I simply traced the star with a Tulip Slick Writer in turquoise to match the star in the book. Instead of filling the star in completely, I went for a more sketchy look that goes with the images in Dr. Seuss books.

Allow the paint to dry and you are set! It really couldn’t be simpler!

The shirt was a big hit and, as you can imagine, he was the only “little star” in his class. It’s fun to think outside the box and not go with the traditional well known characters.
