Simple Winter Wonderland Framed Art

simple winter wonderland framed art
Sometimes when I create new home decor items for the holidays I try to make them functional for an entire season. So when something new is made for Christmas, I think it would be great to keep it out until March! This can be done by leaning a project more toward winter than Christmas itself. I also like to keep the cost down so I tend to look to my craft stash for simple projects. And that is exactly what I have for you today. A simple winter craft that you can easily shop your own stash to complete!

The items you find from your craft stash may vary slightly, but basically you will need a picture frame without the glass, blue scrapbook paper (patterned or not, its up to you!), snowflakes (rub-ons, stickers, or draw them with a glitter pen), twigs from the yard, and glitter paint.

First thing to do: bake the twigs in the oven at 200 degrees for 2 hours to kill any bugs that may be lurking within.

Trim the scrapbook paper to fit the picture frame. Add the snowflakes.

Trim the twigs so that they will fit in the frame.

glitter twigs
Spray a light coat of glitter paint on the twigs. It gives them just a touch of glisten that will catch the light.

Once the paint is dry, use a wet adhesive to glue the twigs to the scrapbook paper.

I suggest placing the paper into the frame then adding the twigs to be sure they line up correctly.

I decided that I wanted an even more “winter-y” look to the twigs so I went back and used a white glitter glue to add “snow” to the twigs. To do this, simply place the glitter glue in random places on the twigs, particularly in areas where snow might “gather” were it to fall from above.

Simple, festive, and didn’t cost a dime. That’s my kind of decor!

And my favorite part? I can keep it up all winter long!
