I can’t believe I’ve never shared today’s Tried it Tuesday recipe before now. It is my GO TO for birthday parties, of which we just had one over the weekend when my littlest guy turned 5. 5! How did that even happen?
Anyway, back to the recipe. I’ve been using this one for years and it’s my absolute favorite for icing a cake. And I tried a different option with it this year and it turned out even better than ever!

This Simple Vanilla Buttercream recipe from Whipperberry is so smooth and delicious! I’ve used it for most of the birthday cakes I’ve made for my boys. Including the one I just made over the weekend which I’ll be sharing in the next week or two.
It is super simple to make, and you really can’t mess it up. It’s simple to color also. This time I tried an alternative ingredient offered in the recipe, heavy cream instead of milk. I think it made the buttercream even creamier! I’ll for sure be keeping that alternative from now on.
