A “Wild” Dessert Tabelscape

August 6, 2012 By Michele McDonald 9 Comments

Since our family includes two little boys, we are “wild” about anything that has to do with animals.
Especially the animals of Africa! I cannot tell you how many stuffed hippos, lions, giraffes, and zebras we own.
When I was offered an opportunity to explore World Market’s new Kingdom Animalia Collection
which features an African theme, I couldn’t have been more excited!
As soon as I walked into World Market I was blown away by the furniture display for the Kingdom Animalia Collection. I wanted to head right over and put my feet up!
The collection also includes some amazing items for the home including this map wall art, the cutest little stuffed elephant (which I may have had to have), and this incredible rustic shelving unit.
But what most captured my attention was the Moroccan-inspired food and tableware!
The dishes, serving platters, and exotic foods looked amazing.
I gathered some items from the collection to create a fun tablescape for a “wild” dessert night in with my boys!
I went a little outside the box by using the Kingdom Animalia fabric shower curtain as my tablecloth.
I absolutely love the feel it gives my table!
I used a couple of the giraffe patterned fabric napkins to create a fun centerpiece
and to show off our Morrocan-inspired sweets.
Remember the little fabric elephant from earlier? Yep, I brought him home with me!
The Moroccan cookbook provided some of the inspiration for our sweet treats.
I can’t wait to try some of the other recipes inside!
It spans from appetizers all the way to desserts.
For our table settings, I simply tied some twine around black buffet napkins
and set them on some of my own plates.
Now we’re ready to enjoy our safari-inspired dessert in high style!
And I have one more bit of fun information to share with you…

Your table is awesome. I love that shower curtain, the pretty plates pop so nicely against the colors and add to the beautiful Animalia collection.
