A black and white wreath is classic for Halloween. Make it striped and made with velvet ribbon and it’s downright skeletal looking and has vintage look and feel!
What’s black and white and covered with spiders?? My new Halloween wreath!
Today I’m sharing a fun new Halloween wreath idea that has a distinctly skeletal and vintage feel with black and white stripes and soft velvet ribbon. I love classic black and white at Halloween. It has it’s own spooky feel with just those monotone colors, don’t you think?
Supplies:
6 yards of 7/8″ black velvet ribbon
6 yards of 7/8″ white velvet ribbon
1 yard of 1 1/2″ black velvet ribbon
wreath form
push pins
3D spider stickers
Cut the 7/8″ black and white ribbons into strips that will wrap around your wreath form twice. I used nearly all of the ribbon for this 12″ wreath form.
Attach the ends of the ribbon to the back of the wreath form with push pins. It’s much quicker than gluing the ribbon to the wreath form.
Attach the white ribbon strips first, leaving gaps in between for the black ribbon. If the white ribbon overlaps the black then the black shows through. Therefore all of the white ribbon needs to be attached first, followed by the black ribbon.
Tie a pretty bow with the 1 1/2″ black ribbon and glue or pin to the top of the wreath.
I found these 3D glittery spider stickers in the scrapbook section of my local craft store. Believe it or not, they stuck perfectly to the velvet ribbon. If you find stickers that don’t adhere to the ribbon you can always glue them on.
I scattered the spiders along one side of the wreath, making it look like they were crawling up it.
Simple and spooky and perfect for Halloween! This is going to make a great addition to my Halloween decor.
