I have a thing for tote bags, y’all! You can see I’ve created quite a few, some from scratch and dressing up store bought totes. Seriously, a girl cannot have too many tote bags!
The striped one above is my latest find from the Target Dollar Spot. Isn’t it so fun? It was with all of the patriotic decor, but those stripes scream farmhouse to me! So I decided to dress it up appropriately with a fun farm logo I created with my Silhouette Cameo. I used flocked heat transfer vinyl because it’s my current favorite form of HTV from Expressions Vinyl and also did some fun layering. I think it turned out pretty fun! I’ll be taking it to all the summer flea markets and barn sales!
AND, bonus, I’m sharing the FREE cut file with you!
Supplies:
Tote bag
Flocked Heat Transfer Vinyl, red and white
FREE Farm Fresh SVG file
To create an enlarged background for the cut file you simply need to select the image in your software and select the OFFSET feature. Then select OFFSET with a distance setting of 0.125 in. It will make your image look crazy, but trust me! Select APPLY. Most of the crazy lines will go away and you will be left with an outline of the image an a couple of other extra lines.
You need to delete the extra lines, but keep the outline. To do this, click on the original image and hit ctrl+X on your keyboard to cut it from the page. You can then easily spot the extra lines from the offset and delete them.
Cut out the background on your vinyl (*REMEMBER to set it to mirror-image prior to cutting since you will be doing that with the original image! You want the outline to match up.). Iron the background to the tote.
For Mother’s Day this year I received a Cricut Easy Press and this was my first project made using it. IT WAS AWESOME! If you’ve been debating getting one, I would definitely recommend it.
Once the background was cool, and I peeled off the clear cover, I simply lined up the Farm Fresh logo which I had cut on my Silhouette (mirror-image!) on the background and ironed it on as well.
I think the white background really helps make the image pop, what do you think??
Yep, definitely carrying this to ALL the barn sales and flea markets. If you use the this free farm fresh file I would love to see how you use it!
