Paint a mini crate in warm metallic colors and fill with mini pumpkins!
This is a sponsored post for DecoArt for whom I am a Core Blogger. As always, all ideas and opinions are 100% my own.
I spent part of the weekend getting all of my fall decorations out! It’s about this time of year that I am OVER summer and ready for cooler weather, coloring changing leaves, and pumpkins. Pumpkins everywhere!
Pumpkins are by far my favorite item to use in my fall decorations. I could decorate with just them and be a happy camper. Well, I might need a few fall flowers thrown in. In fact, I mainly stuck to those two items while decorating my fall mantel this year. And my centerpiece and pièce de résistance? A little painted and stenciled mini crate for my mini faux pumpkin collection.
Supplies:
Mini wooden crate
DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Orange Flicker
DecoArt Metallic Lustre in White Frost
DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Elegant Emerald
DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Iced Espresso
DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Brilliant Turquoise
I found the crate in the Dollar Spot at Target for $3.
I gave the entire crate a coat of the Iced Espresso then went back and lightly brushed on strokes of the Brilliant Turquoise to give it a distressed look. After it was all completely dry I gave it a good buff with a paper towel to bring out the shine in the paint.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to create custom stencils out of adhesive vinyl to use on the crate. I applied one thick coat of paint to each stencil then immediately removed the vinyl.
After the stencils were dry I went back and very lightly brushed the Iced Espresso over them to add to the distressed look.
Fill the crate with Spanish moss and mini pumpkins and you’re all set!
I lined up a couple of fall floral stems behind the crate and scatted more mini pumpkins around on the mantel. It’s such a cute centerpiece for the space!
I hung my fall harvest wreath in the frame and surrounded the crate with other fall favorites, including my harvest leaf orb. Easy peasy, and it has me ready for fall! Someone tell Mother Nature it’s time to turn the thermostat down, mmkay?
