After Christmas, Halloween is definitely my most favorite holiday.

As my boys get older, we have ventured away from the cutesy Halloween decor and gotten a bit spookier.

No gore or anything super scary, but definitely more skeletons, deadly potions, and lots of spiders.

That’s all spooky enough for me!

Today I’m sharing a super fun design that incorporates a lot of our current spooky vibes we bring out at Halloween.

I’ve got all the deets on this fabulous sweatshirt, the Halloween Moon free cut file, and the glitter vinyl I used to make this shirt.

Supplies:

Sweatshirt – Obviously you can put this design on anything, but I have to tell you how much I am loving the oversized sweatshirt I bought for this project.

The color is called Light Green but it definitely has sage vibes going on.

Like I said earlier, it’s sold as an oversized sweater and it is COMFY.

I’m normally an XL girl, but I bought it in a large and it swallows me (in the most comfy way possible).

I love it so much I bought it in 2 more colors and may need more!

And did I mention it’s fleece-lined??? Mmmmmhmmmmm.

Black Glitter HTV – My HTV is the Galaxy Black Siser Glitter 9×12 HTV from Expressions Vinyl.

It is a thicker HTV so you need patience for all the weeding involved with this pattern.

I ran this pattern on my Silhouette Cameo 4 at the recommended settings for glitter HTV, but changed the blade depth to 4 and the speed at 2, and I also had it do 2 passes.

I chose this thicker glitter HTV because I knew it would be worth the look in the end, but you could definitely use it with the Sparkle 12×12 HTV which is much thinner and a bit easier to weed for a similar look.

Halloween Moon Free Cut File Tips & Tricks:

Remember, if printing on HTV, mirror your image!

Always give your fabric a quick iron to warm the surface before placing your image down.

Then fold the shirt in half and iron the seam to know where the center of the shirt is.

For this pattern, the moon is slightly askew, so keep the string from the spider parallel to the center seam you just ironed.

The second best thing about Expressions Vinyl (after all the amazing vinyl types they have) is that on each page of vinyl, they tell you exactly how to use it.

In this case, preheat fabric for 3 seconds, apply firm pressure at 325 degrees F for 10-25 second, then peel off carrier sheet while hot.

After removing the carrier sheet, I always flip my shirt over and iron from the back as well.

Look at that sparkle!

That is definitely why I chose the thicker Siser HTV even though the weeding was rough.

You can probably tell I lost a few of the finer details of the skull, but I do not think it is super noticeable.

I can’t wait to snuggle up in this Halloween sweatshirt when we start watching Halloween movies!

It will also be perfect for those chilly nights out (Friday Night Lights!!) and probably taking my kids trick or treating.

If you download my Halloween Moon free cut file and use it in a project, I’d love to see it!
