Moss & Burlap Spring Wreath

February 27, 2013 By: Michele McDonald29 Comments

It has been way too long since I made a new wreath for our home!
I have a bit of a wreath fetish don’t-you-know.

But a new wreath for spring was in order, and I have to say I am loving it!
It would be super simple to dress up for spring holidays like St. Patrick’s Day or Easter.
Or just leave it plain all spring long!

While perusing Hobby Lobby I found this roll of moss in the Easter section.
I was immediately intrigued!

I snatched up a roll, ran home, and immediately wrapped it around a wreath form!
Unfortunately, the 6 ft of moss only covered 1/3 of the wreath. Boo!

So what’s a gal to do but go back and get some more!
Unfortunately when I made it back there was only one roll left. Boo!
You can do the math. I needed at least two more rolls.

Time to improvise!
I found some fun yellow burlap ribbon at Hobby Lobby that I was sure could solve my problem.

I wrapped each side of the wreath form with the a roll of moss.
Note: You will want to wrap your wreath with the moss OUTSIDE. It is messy!

I wrapped the gaps in the wreath with the yellow burlap.
I made the bottom wrapping slightly wider than the top for aesthetics.

Finally, with what was left of the burlap, I made a bow which I pinned to the front of the wreath with straight pins.

I love the poofy-ness of the bow!

I thought about adding some decor to the wreath (it really is a blank slate), but ultimately took this flower arrangement back off. I just wasn’t feeling it.

I kind of love it for its simplicity!
And I am so ready for spring to get here so this makes me smile every time I see it.

I do have one thing I may add to it. I will definitely share if I do!

I totally agree. This wreath’s beauty is in its simplicity. Just lovely. And I had no idea moss comes in ribbons like that! Thanks for linking up at #SaucySaturdays.

It turned out great! And you’re right, it looks even better simple than with the flower arrangement, though I really liked the colors of those flowers!

I like the last one best… Keeping it simplest, maybe some little flowers added would be fun
I love burlap, but colored burlap is even more amazing… 🙂

Oooh I love this. And I think you made the right decision to take the flower arrangement off. I really like the bold simplicity of the burlap against the moss.
