I recently had the opportunity to put together a super fun hostess gift basket using products from Old Time Pottery. I made it with a summer, dining for two theme in mind and customized it by personalizing some inexpensive decorative dishtowels.
For this outdoor dining basket I selected a green and yellow color scheme and grew from there:
- I started with the green plates and frosted yellow wine glasses. They are the start for an intimate outdoor dining experience.
- From there I added a yellow candle (citronella to keep the bugs away) and a flame lighter. To add to the candle centerpiece I found a green lantern that I could use as a flower pot and the ever popular succulents to put in it.
- The green towels, BBQ spatula, heat-proof tongs, utensil caddy, and food tent will come in handy for food preparation.
- The cute fruit-shaped ice cube trays and bottle opener were perfect for the color scheme so I could not resist adding them in, too.
- The crate was the perfect “basket” for all of the supplies to fit in AND will be something that can easily be used for storage later on. The tissue paper and yellow burlap ribbon will be extra accents to decorate the crate when the supplies are added to it.
The kitchen towels were a set. I love them because of how easy they are to customize!
I used a digital die cut machine to cut out the hostess’s initials on iron on vinyl that I can apply to the towels.
If you do not have access to a digital die cutter, do not fret! You can easily create the initials with paint and a homemade stencil or iron on letters from a craft store.
Any sentiment or personalization can be added to the towels. I love the whimsy of the “wash” and “dry” on the extra towels in this set.
When its time to add all of the supplies to the gift basket, start with the tissue paper. Crumple it up and place it in the bottom of the basket. This will give all of the supplies a lift so they can be seen better. Place the personalized towels front and center. Tie the burlap ribbon around the utensil caddy then arrange it and the rest of the items in the basket with the larger ones in back.
Customizing the towels really makes this gift basket special and personal to the hostess who will be receiving it. And its a great way for you to show your appreciation to her for putting on a fun event.
