Pipe Cleaner Pumpkins

November 14, 2012 By: Michele McDonald7 Comments

For my fall decor I just can’t incorporate enough pumpkins.
I have them in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
And new this year?
Sparkly Pipe Cleaner Pumpkins!
Ready for the tutorial?
These will take all of 5 minutes to make!

I used some silver chenille stems (aka pipe cleaners) I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby,
but you can of course use any color you like.
Orange, red, and brown would make lovely traditional pumpkins.
Silver or gold for something a little more eye-catching!
Take about 8 pipe cleaners and line the ends up.
Give them a good twist so that they wrap around each other and won’t come apart when you let go.
Take 2 pipe cleaners and pull them in the opposite direction of where they are currently facing.
Twist the ends around each other (see arrow above) to keep them together.
Repeat the process with the rest of the pipe cleaners, working with only 2 at a time.
Twist and bend the stem at the top of the pumpkin.
Hold the pipe cleaners upright by the “stem” and push down.
This will bulge out the sides and help create the look of the pumpkin.
It may take a little work to get all of the pipe cleaners to look just right, but keep adjusting and they will get there!
Promise!
To finish the look we need some tendrils.
Wrap a pipe cleaner around a pen or pencil or whatever you have handy.
Slide it off the pen and wrap it around the base of the pumpkin stem.
Viola!
I had the hardest time getting a good photo of these pumpkins.
They are absolutely adorable but I feel like its not coming across fully in the pictures.
The way the silver tinsel catches the light is just magical!
And, seriously, this is a 5 minute craft.
You can’t beat that for last minute fall decor!
I link to these fun parties!

That is just way too cute! I think I have a pumpkin obsession too, and just made about 7 more out of Slinkys 😉 And this would match them perfectly! I agree with Beverly, these would be great for the kiddos. Must pin!
