VERY Special Fall Mailbox Decor

October 7, 2010 By: Michele McDonald15 Comments

I know what you’re thinking.

This doesn’t look like very special fall mailbox decor.
Just your average run-of-the-mill fall mailbox decor.

But, I assure you, it is VERY special!

It is oh so very special because this little guy decided to walk me to the mailbox to help put the decor up.

And on the way he told me, for the FIRST TIME on his own, that he LOVED me.

♥♥♥ Awwwwww!!!! ♥♥♥

Melt my big ol’ mommy heart!

We did lots of hugging and high fives so that he knew this made mommy VERY happy!

And I’ve been rewarded by his saying it several more times in the weeks since. 🙂

But, back to the decor, this is another decoration I made years ago
when I made my fall wreath.

I found several stems of fall-like flowers and a large sunflower and bundled them together. I wrapped the stems with raffia. I made sure to leave the branches loose instead of bundling them as I wrapped the raffia.

I made a bow with some fun ribbon and attached it to the wrapped stems with wire.

I also wrapped more wire around the stems (making sure to hide it in the foliage) so that I can use it to attach the decoration to the mailbox.

Here it is attached to the mailbox. Easy peasy to take on and off.

So far the wire has lasted me 6 years without having to be replaced!

I just love decorating my mailbox for the holidays. It is truly the first thing people see when they come to my house, and I want them to know right away that
it is a festive place!

And, just a little FYI, I am out of town at the moment for a quick girl’s getaway, but will be back Saturday afternoon! So don’t think I am ignoring any comments! 😉

This reminds me that I need to take my decorations down to our mailbox as well. Yours is much prettier than what mine will be.
