I don’t know about you, but when I’m invited to a soiree at a friend’s house
I feel the need to bring a little something in way of appreciation to the hostess.
Sometimes that’s as simple as picking up a nice bottle of wine.
Sometimes I like to take it a bit further and put together a gift basket!
When I think about putting together a hostess gift, housewarming gift, or even birthday gifts
I always think about Cost Plus World Market!
Their amazing selection, exotic goods, and reasonable prices just can’t be beat.
I recently had an opportunity to do a little shopping there and thought I would show you what I found
and how I put together my hostess gift.
Every time I walk into World Market I am immediately drawn to the gift wrap center.
They have absolutely everything you need present a sophisticated gift basket.
Baskets galore, filler, ribbon, gift bags… It goes on and on!
I love looking through all of the bright colored gift bags.
You have to be careful with World Market though…
Your wrapped gift could possibly outshine your actual present!
But not if your gift is from World Market, too.
So let’s look at what I put together.
After walking around the store a bit I finally decided what I wanted to create.
I found a fun linen-lined chicken wire basket to hold all of my goodies.
I started with the to small green plates, then found the matching green linen napkins.
The chalkboard napkins rings were so fun I just had to include them, too!
To bring in more black to go with the napkins rings, I grabbed a black pot holder and two small black hued glasses.
I also picked up a large green glass bottle with a stopper, salad servers (which I think would make great individual serving pieces), and two small containers for spices.
To get our gift basket started I added some filler material to the basket.
This will give our items a little height and also help cushion the breakables.
I began by putting the two plates in the basket then started adding the larger items behind them.
The serving pieces fit well in the pocket of the pot holder.
To show off the napkin rings, I tucked the napkins in them then personalized them with an initial.
The smallest items go in the front and can be raised up by adding more filler material underneath them.
My plan, come time to share the hostess gift, is to fill the green bottle with sangria or flavored water and add complimentary herbs or spices to the small containers.
A fresh warm pie or cobbler will put the oven mitt, serving pieces, and plates to good use!
I also want to share the Gourmet Getaway Sweepstakes that

I visited Santa Fe once. Back in college I had a girlfriend working at Los Alamos National Laboratory for the summer and another friend and I went out to visit her for a few days. Santa Fe is only about 20 miles from Los Alamos.
I remember it being a lovely and quaint little town. I know I would love to go back and explore it some more!
I have started truncating my posts to avoid having my content stolen. I hope you’ll click over to finish reading the post. Thank you for understanding!
