Social Saturday – Date night!

Confession: I am completely addicted to taking pictures with my new smart phone
I love always having a camera on me, and being able to share them with my friends on Instagram!
And its going to make Social Saturday so much more fun
Tired of my exclamation points yet? Okay, let’s get on with it then…
date+night+1
One of my goals for 2012 was to date my husband more. At least one date per month!
I’m sad to report we are failing miserably at this. We had our first date last weekend since January. Gah!
Unless you count our week in Utah… Hrmmm. I think I will totally count that!
Anyhoo… the littles spent the night with the grandparents so we were free to do what we wished all afternoon and evening. Yay!!
Can you believe I was able to talk the hubs into a stop at Old Time Pottery before dinner?
I literally have not been there in years. I love that place!
Now listen up Nashville area peeps.
The restaurant I’m about to tell you about is absolutely FANTASTIC.
If you’re lucky you already know about it.
If its news to you, then go there ASAP.
But make a reservation.
Its that good. 🙂

Miller’s Grocery in Christiana, TN (just south of Murfreesboro off of hwy 231) is somewhere the hubs and I will drive an hour out of our way to eat at.
It is sooooo good!

You absolutely can not beat the atmosphere. As the name suggests, the restaurant is inside what was once an old country store. The floors are old wood planks, the walls a fabulous chippy white siding, the table and chairs a hodgepodge of put together kitchen furniture, and the decor… well the decor is my favorite part!
There is an old gas pump at the back the restaurant. The walls are covered with various bits of history and memorabilia. Over our heads was an old screen door with Christmas lights thrown around it. Our table was covered with a vintage tablecloth and an adorable set of old salt & pepper shakers.

The food is southern food at its finest!
We started our meal out with fried green tomatoes. Yum!!
The hubs had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, white beans, and a fresh roll.
I had the country fried steak & gravy with fried okra, mashed potatoes, and a fresh roll.
Dessert is easily the most difficult decision of the evening. There are so many delicious homemade options!
The hubs went with the strawberry cobbler with ice cream.
I went with the Snickers cake.
To. Die. For.
And the live band was pretty good, too.
You would have thought Johnny Cash was in the room! 🙂
I think this date definitely made up for our lack of them lately.
And did I mention we started the whole thing off with a movie?
I haven’t seen a movie (in theater or in home) in ages!
The Avengers.
It was awesome!
And also explains who some of the characters are on my 3 year old’s underwear…

Do you date your husband?
Any tips to help us keep this going every month?

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Date night is a must! Why do we always forget how important that is to keep our relationships happy and healthy! We have been trying to do more dates nights too.

Just an FYI Re: http://www.theshabbycreekcottage.com/2012/05/weekend-whirlwind.html#comment-form

I'm pretty sure that shop is Steely's Corner in Columbia, TN. If you go, watch your step! This is more of a "picker's" store, you really have to prowl.

Happy to help! I haven't been there in years, because I got miffed at the lady who ran it. I think that is what they call cutting off your nose to spite your face! ;-) While you are in the area, you should also go to Carter's Creek Station Antiques, if you haven't been there before.
